RIMM Unveils $150M Venture Fund For Blackberry Apps

Research In Motion (RIMM) today announced that the formation of Blackberry Partners Fund, a $150 million venture fund to invest in applications and services for the Blackberry and other mobile platforms. RIMM s partners in the fund include Thomson Reuters (TRIN), JLA Ventures and RBC Venture Partners. The fund will be co-managed by JLA s John Albright and RBC s Kevin Talbot.It s not likely to escape anyone that this sounds a lot like the $100 million iFund that Kleiner Perkins set up to fund applications for the Apple (AAPL) iPhone.RIMM today also unveiled the Blackberry Bold, its firs...
