Economic Outlook: Housing construction jumps unexpectedly in April

SEATTLE (ResourceInvestor.com) -- The Commerce Department reported Friday that housing construction rose by 8.2% in April to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.03 million units. The growth came from a big jump in apartment construction, according to AP. In other news, the U.S. consumer sentiment index in May fell to 59.5 from 62.6 in April, according to a Friday report from University of Michigan/Reuters.
