US EPA Moots Two Methods for Regulating GHG from Light-Duty Vehicles

As part of the Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) on regulating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions released by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) last Friday afternoon, the agency mooted two alternative attributes-based approaches for setting light-duty vehicle GHG standards.Based on EPA modeling, such light-duty vehicle GHG regulations could result in average CO2 emissions of approximately 232 g/mile (144 g/km) by 2020, reflecting fuel economy of approximately 38.3 mpg gasoline (6.14 L/100km).
