U.S. equity index futures are slightly higher this morning. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures are up 69 points in pre-opening trade. Strength can be attributed partially to takeover news and rumors. Allied Waste has offered to purchase Republic Waste for $6 billion. Bunge has offered to purchase Corn Products International in a $4.8 billion deal.Strength in the U.S. Dollar is pressuring gold prices this morning.
