U.S. equity index futures are higher in pre-opening trade. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures added 65 points. Futures improved slightly following release of the May Consumer Price report. Consensus was an increase in CPI of 0.6%. Actual was up 0.5%. Consensus for CPI ex food and energy was an increase of 0.2%. Actual was up 0.2%. The U.S. Dollar is a focus this morning. It is sharply higher in anticipation of action by G8 Finance Ministers to support the U.S. Dollar at its meeting in Japan over the weekend.
