Just to clarify my interpretation of the charts earlier.The VIX has remained stubbornly low throughout most of the 2008 ugliness. We've written ad nauseum on the topic. But to refresh, it's likely a host of factors playing a role. We have two huge sectors, financial and energy, almost always moving in opposite directions and keeping the index relatively stable. We have the Plunge Protection Team giving new meaning to the Greenspan Put. We have Double Shot Inverse ETF's providing a bit of an alternative and reduction of demand for actual puts.
